Hello and welcome to Cats at Home! This is the start of our new and exciting blog giving you all an insight into what it is we actually do. In the blogs we will be documenting visits we do, as well as sharing stories from funny to adorable of the cats we see!

Due to the current climate our business has only just stared to pick back up again, and we have decided to come back better than ever in the hope of growing our business further. Before we start with any blogs make sure you go and follow all of our social media platforms; Facebook: CatsAtHomePreston and Instagram: cats_at_home_preston.

Let’s start by introducing you to our team. We are a family business, that is owned by Sherry, Eddie, Tina and Tori, established for more than 10 years within the Preston area.

Having the four of us allows us to take on a higher volume of customers covering the full 52 weeks in the year.

Typically, our visits include: feeding the cats, refilling their water bowls, clearing their trays, cleaning up any messes made by the cats and leaving us enough time to give them some attention and have a play.

Our business gives you the freedom to go on holiday in the knowledge that your cat is in its own familiar surroundings, getting the care and attention they need each day. Personally, we believe that a kitty in their own home is a happy kitty as they can stick to their own routines and continue sleeping in their favourite spots!

Keep your eyes posted for some upcoming blog in the next few days about how we are maintaining safety during the pandemic, visits to cats with additional needs and cute stories of the kitties we see. In the meantime, head over to our social media to see some super cute photos and updates about the business and don’t hesitate to contact us for any information or enquires.

Covid-19 Precautions

Posted by Cats At Home on September 3rd, 2020

Hello, welcome back to Cats At Home blog!

Today I am going to talk about how we are maintaining hygiene and abiding by the restrictions of the Covid 19 outbreak. We are keeping up to date with all the guidance for business published by the government and ensuring that we are meeting all the Laws and requirements. Since starting up our business again after lockdown we have been wearing masks and a new pair of gloves in each house we go into, as well as cleaning any surfaces we may have touched and washing our hands regularly.

In addition, if a member of our team were to come down with coronavirus, we would ensure they self-isolate for 14 days along with anyone they have been in contact with. But do not fear there will always be someone there to look after the kitties and ensure they are fed and watered as per usual.

I hope this helps to reassure our customers that we are taking all precautions to keep all us, you and the kitty’s, of course, safe at all times!

A story from customer

Posted on October 14th, 2020

The following content was written by one of our valued customers, unfortunately this is a sad story but one she wishes to share.

This is a sad story but needs to be told to show how these people go above and beyond the call of duty.

We've used Sherry and her team plenty of times for cat sitting while we were visiting our family abroad. Cats were always happy, we had lovely and hilarious video updates that our toddler loved (and requested to watch again and again and again...)

On the last occasion, our elderly tortie queen hadn't been in the best shape for a few weeks before we were supposed to leave for 3 weeks. She just recovered from a chest infection then was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid gland and started on medication.

Administering the meds was no problem for Tori at all, they even paid attention to do the visits roughly the same time every day.

One day Sherry called me during the visit to explain that Chooffy was doing poorly and struggling to breath. She was about to send me a video as well, but wanted to alert me to make sure I wouldn't show it to my little son. How thoughtful!

Then they arranged an urgent appointment with our vet and took her. Tori attended the appointment with Chooffy and we learnt that she had severe heart failure and needed to go to sleep. It was heartbreaking. We were abroad to visit family whom we hadn't seen for half a year and might not see again for long time because of Covid. So couldn't just come back soon, but neither could let our beloved cat suffering.

Finally we decided to let Chooffy go sleep that day and Tori was kind enough to stay with her till the end. We will be always grateful for that. We couldn't be around, but she wasn't alone and was loved and cared for.

After that they even went back to our house to "explain" things and comfort our other cat.

I'd like to add that Sherry has a great tone, compassionate and calming. It really helped with the panic and pain I experienced that day.

To sum up the story, as Sherry said to me on the phone: "Chooffy's wellbeing is my responsibility while her family is away" and they acted accordingly, treated our fur baby exactly if she had been their own.

I don't think you could wish for more.
